2019 Audi e-tron Audi is bringing another full-electric e-tron model, the Audi e-tron Sportback, to production in 2019 at its Brussels factory following the launch of the Audi e-tron electric SUV in 2018, the automaker announced in a press release Wednesday, and an electric supercar could also be on the way. Audi is looking to continue its innovation efforts with new e-tron electric models. Though the automaker has toyed with them in the past, contemporary technology has proved for some setbacks that indicated a viable high-performance EV for the brand would be a few years out. Now though, we know that there are two new EVs—the 320-kilowatt e-tron Sportback and the e-tron electric SUV that are fresh and ready to come to market. Both cars will be built at the automaker's Brussels facility. The move is said to echo the launch of the Audi Quattro in 1980. Although based on the contempora

Volvo Concept Coupe This is the Volvo Concept Coupe. The concept was penned by the brand’s new vice president of design, Thomas Ingenlath of Volkswagen fame, and its interior was laid out by Robin Page, formerly of Bentley. Considering the upbringing of the two men behind the Concept Coupe, looking to the past for inspiration might very well have led to a modern-day PV544. However, the Swedish brand had another classic gem in mind to inspire its all-new design direction that will merge “contemporary Scandinavian lifestyle and design with iconic elements from Volvo’s 1960s era”: the P1800. Porsche E-Performance. Direction: Future. Volvo may as well be describing the vintage coupe’s proportions when it explains how the distance between the concept’s dashboard and front axle has been extended and the greenhouse positioned rearward. The CC’s grille mimics the s

Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid Platinum Edition The 2017 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid Platinum Edition plug-in hybrid thumped up onto Car and Driver’s California scales and punished them to the tune of 5373 pounds. That’s 54 pounds less than we recorded for the slightly less lavish non–Platinum Edition version during testing in Michigan. Hey, California gravity is groovier than Michigan gravity. Or maybe it was the nearly $10,000 in extra options on the Michigan car that added mass. The vehicle with the longest name in Porsche’s lineup is plug-in hybrid gasoline-electric crossover. It is technically a second-generation hybrid version, surpassing its predecessor with new plug-in capabilities that allow it to recharge using a standard household 110-volt outlet (in about 11 hours) or a dedicated 240-volt outlet (in less than three hours). Opening the hood only reveals a portion of the powertrain, which l

Audi Q8 Sport SUV Concept Hybrid 2018 Audi Q8 styling One would tend to think that with the Audi Q7, the Porsche Cayenne and the Bentley Bentayga SUV, the Volkswagen group has covered all grounds in the SUV segment. However, in January, Audi unveiled the Q8 SUV Concept that will spawn a new ‘Q’ model in the coming years. Now, the Ingolstadt-based car maker has come up with the Q8 Sport Concept, which is based on the Audi Q8 SUV concept shown earlier. Making its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Audi Q8 Sport previews the upcoming Audi SQ8 SUV. The all-new Audi Q8 SUV will become the new flagship SUV from the Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer. It will be underpinned by VW’s MLB (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) platform. 2018 Audi Q8 interior The Q8’s long wheelbase should allow it to offer plenty of interior space – probably enough for four adults and a large amount of luggage, too. Volvo to launch XC90 T8 Plug-in-Hybrid Volvo India will launch its XC90 plug-in-Hybrid vehicle in India, on 14th September 2016. The new addition to the Volvo family is the T8 hybrid variant of the SUV, which will be followed by the launch of the new Volvo S90 sedan later this year. The current Volvo XC90 is sold with a diesel engine only and the new plug-in-Hybrid will be sold alongside. Coming to the heart of things, the hybrid powertrain witnesses the marriage of a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor to an electric motor, to dish out 412 horses and a best-in-class 650Nm of torque. The car will race to 100 kmph from dead halt in 5.6 seconds, the company claimed on the occasion. Powering the new Volvo XC90 T8 trim are two electric motors, which along with a petrol engine, will generate a maximum power of 394 hp and a peak torque of 640 Nm between 2,200-5,400 rpm. According to the company, the electric motor

2018 BMW X2 SUV Hybrid - Sport model BMW is readying a new crossover for 2018 to slot in-between the X1 and X3, which rather unsurprisingly will take on the X2 name when it arrives next year. Previewed in concept form at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the production model should stay true to the design principles set out by last year’s concept. Our exclusive image shows how it will look BMW’s latest addition to its growing SUV range will be a compact coupe-styled offering called the X2. This new model’s already been spotted undergoing testing in images courtesy of Motor Authority while an official BMW concept gives us a good idea what to expect when the finished car goes on sale in 2018. 2018 BMW X2 styling BMW’s official X2 Concept, shown above, is expected to strongly influence what the finished X2 will look like. 2018 Range Rover Plug-In Hybrid - Sport model Plug-in hybrid versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have been spotted testing ahead of a possible launch in 2018. The current fourth generation Range Rover had some mild updates for the 2017 model year, but these are the latest pictures of forthcoming hybrid models which could be introduced to the range with more updates for 2018. The test mules get a new front bumper and grille, which is believed to house the charging port, while the lights at the front and back are also a new design. Warning stickers on the front and rear of the car indicate that these are electrified models. It's thought that the Range Rover is powered by a hybrid unit which incorporates a 295bhp four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine and a lithium-ion battery, which is stored under the boot floor. According to an engineering presentation last year, the company decided to build its own hybrid elect

Toyota C-HR Hybrid From the Auris and the Avensis to the Yaris and the RAV4, all of Toyota’s recent mainstream cars have been depressingly vanilla. White goods. Reliable, serviceable, capable—but as engaging as a washing machine or fridge freezer. But with the C-HR—an acronym for Coupe-High Rider, if you were wondering—Toyota has built a mass market vehicle with some of the panache shown in more niche models like the GT86, hydrogen-powered Mirai, and new Prius. And all it had to do was take the 2014 Paris Motor Show C-HR Concept and put it into production. The version we have on test is the 1.8L hybrid. Before you ask, yes, this is basically a Mk.4 Prius with shoulder pads. Like the Prius the C-HR hybrid is a front-wheel drive machine. If you want an all-wheel drive C-HR you’ll have to go for the 1.2-litre turbo model. Drivetrain The relationship between the Prius and the hybrid C-HR runs deep. Both use the new GA-C platform which is part o

Maruti Suzuki Swift 2017 Hybrid Dubbed ‘Range Extender’ the hybrid variant of Swift was previously being considered to be supplied to the government of India, although this pilot project was shelved for unknown reason, but it seems that the Japanese auto giant is now contemplating to launch it in India for commercial use. This announcement came after the government inducted the FAME India scheme. Power is expected to be derived from a low displacement petrol engine which is likely to generate pretty decent power output something against its low capacity stance. There will be three modes on which the hatchback will be driven around. The launch date is far away, speaking hypothetically, launch is likely to happen two years from now. On the price front, the hatchback will be priced more than the regular version but we believe that MSI will tag the hatchback competitively. Hybrid Electric Vehicle A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is a type of hybrid vehicle and electric vehicle that combines a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) system with an electric propulsion system (hybrid vehicle drivetrain). The presence of the electric powertrain is intended to achieve either better fuel economy than a conventional vehicle or better performance. There are a variety of HEV types, and the degree to which each functions as an electric vehicle (EV) varies as well. The most common form of HEV is the hybrid electric car, although hybrid electric trucks (pickups and tractors) and buses also exist. Modern HEVs make use of efficiency-improving technologies such as regenerative brakes, which converts the vehicle's kinetic energy into electric energy to charge the battery, rather than wasting it as heat energy as conventional brakes do. Some varieties of HEVs use their internal combustion engine to generate electricity by s
